Those of you who know me well, know that I have had a fascination with God and his hands, particularly in the past year.  He is such a “hands on” God.  And it occurred to me that He has not been afraid to get his hands dirty on us since the beginning.  He created man out of dirt.  And that pretty much started the pattern of his interactive hands getting involved in all aspects of our lives.  Especially the messy ones.  All through the bible He shows it over and over again.  So I just started, in a very simple way, to just look at the passages I am most familiar with to see how He used those hands on us.  I know there are so many I haven’t uncovered yet.  Please pass any on to me that you know…

Here are a few I came up with… He created us out of dirt.  Jesus was born in a dirty manger – God was not afraid to live life and rub shoulders with us. He healed.  He touched the untouchable.  He spent time with the people that it was not pc to do so with. He performed miracles.  He held children. He was a carpenter and used his hands to build both literally and in peoples’ lives.  He is referred to as the Potter, using His hands to mold us into His image. Throughout the Psalms, David talks about all the ways God uses his hands on us – “Your right hand upholds me.” Your right hand sustains me.” “He pulled me out of the mud and mire.” Scripture talks about our names being written on the palm of His hand. Jesus made mud out of dirt and spit to heal a blind man.  He washed his disciples’ dirty, nasty, stinky feet.  He was drawn to the broken and used His hands to make them whole again.  He touched the sick and made them well.  He reached to the dirty and repulsive and made them clean.  And then He looked at all of us and stretched out those loving, amazing hands and was nailed to a cross to give us life.  And until we see Him one day, He holds us in those precious hands.

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
