I saw three very emotional movies this weekend.  That may account for the puffiness under my eyes this morning…

Each of the movies, in different ways, focused on the importance of relationships.  How that in the grand scheme of things, they are the only thing that truly matters.  The world around us might fall apart.  We might lose our money, our possessions, our health.  But if we have healthy relationships, we will survive and even thrive no matter what our circumstances.

It was interesting.  It wasn’t the tragedies that had me bawling.  It was the profound power of the relationships.  Some of them old and established.  Some of them new and just being discovered.  But all were in place at just the right time to endure what life was dishing out.

I am amazed by relationships.  My relationship with God and my relationships with others.  They are what make my life worthwhile.  It’s what gives me motivation and stimulation and drive.  It’s what inspires me to grow and change.

And the more relationships I experience, the more I realize that each and every relationship that I engage in  has purpose. For them and for me.  While God meets all of my needs and my relationship with Him supplies that, He often uses the people in my life to provide for me, to minister to me and to challenge me.  If I view every person in my life as His provision for me, then I won’t take relationships for granted.  I will appreciate what each one brings and what I can offer each one.  I will be more intentional in asking God how He can use me in the daily life of others – relationships both old and new.

I want to walk into my day with that attitude.  I want to look into the eyes of the people I am with today and know they are there, at that exact moment, for a reason.  My encounter with them is important and possibly profound.  And absolutely has a purpose. For them and for me.  And God is offering something to each of us through each other.

Enjoy your day.  And keep your eyes open.  You may just see someone in a whole new light today…

Hebrews 13;2 – Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

John 13:34 – Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
