“Too deep,”  I said, “this sin in me.

In places dark , where no one sees.”

“My blood runs deep,” my Jesus said,

“Flows through that dark, gives light instead.”

“Too big,”  I argued, “this sin inside.

Its cause/effect too large to hide.”

“My blood is big,” my Jesus replied,

“Enough to cleanse both deep and wide.”

“Too black,” I argued, “this sin’s stain.

Its color bleeding in my veins.”

“My blood is still the deepest red.

Turns black to white,” my Jesus said.

Every claim I tried to make –

My sin too deep, too black, too great –

Was answered with a single thought

That with His blood, my soul was bought.

And with that purchase, cleansing came

Drowning sin, its guilt, its stain.

My heart, my soul now clean and white

An empty canvas where He can write

The lyrics of Amazing Grace

Every red word in every white space.

Hebrews 9:14 –  How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Isaiah 53:5 – But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.

Ephesians 1:7-10 (The Message) – Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.
