Psalm 17:8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. (The meaning of “the apple of your eye” is actually the pupil of the eye, signifying God’s protection over us (as someone would protect something from poking him in the pupil), his vision and attention on us….love that.  Have been overwhelmed today by the phrases that God uses to describe His love for us – thus, this song…)

The apple of Your eye You say

Is what you think of me

The shadow of Your wings You say

Is where I’ll always be

Your right hand will uphold me

My tears Your bottle fill

You rescue me from miry clay

And yet You love me still

How deep

How wide

How wonderful is Your great love

When I can’t feel its presence

When I can’t see its glow

When I can’t smell its fragrance

Still I will choose to know

How deep

How wide

How wonderful is Your great love

Let the children come, You say

And I’m a child of Yours

My name is on Your palm, You say

Your precious one, adored

Your feet are quick to save me

Your arms are open wide

You hold me ever closer

As you draw me to Your side

How deep

How wide

How wonderful is Your great love

When I can’t feel its presence

When I can’t see its glow

When I can’t smell its fragrance

Still I will choose to know

How deep

How wide

How wonderful is Your great love

And though my faith may waver

Your love is ever true

Reminding me of who You are

And who I am in You…
