Energy seems to feed on itself.  The good and the bad.

This week I had the sweet opportunity of meeting with some incredibly creative women.  We are going to be getting together once a month to work on projects.  The creative energy just multiplied the more time that we spent together and encouraged each other.

As I have seen over and over again in my life, when you feed something it grows.  That goes for the healthy and good things we involve ourselves in as well as the destructive and harmful things we let ourselves get involved with.  This is true from the moment we hit the planet.  We need to be fed to live and grow and thrive.  Starvation kills.

And as we “feed” ourselves with healthy things and watch areas in our lives develop and blossom, we find ourselves fulfilled.  Satisfied, yet longing for more growth.

One of the biggest keys in developing those things in our lives is surrounding ourselves with people who have the same appetites.  People who feed on the same “food” and are heading in the same direction.  Those people who motivate us to step outside our boxes and go further.  People for whom we can do the same.

Growth begets growth.  When we are growing in one area of our lives, we are generally changing and developing in other areas as well.  It improves our vision and perspective so that we can see things a little differently and a little clearer.  It shows us that if improvement is possible in one endeavor, it is most likely possible in another.

Jesus is a big fan of growth.  He gives us everything we need to be nourished and exercised and developed.  His Word, His people, the circumstances He allows, the opportunities He provides.   And He offers Himself.  Every aspect of who He is, He offers to us.

He gave each of us gifts and abilities that reflect Him.  If we don’t use them, enjoy them, develop them, they die.  And, I think, a part of us dies with them.  A little bit of life in us is deflated and living is just a little bit less “abundant.”

Let’s go feed it today, whatever “it” is.  Let’s find what God has put deep in our souls, that seed that is waiting to be fed and watered and grown.  And let’s find those people that we can offer nourishment to as well.

John 7:38 – Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’

John 10:10 – The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Matthew 25:20-21 – The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Luke 8:16 – No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
